At some point, we all need (or just want) to show our work to audiences that requires something bigger than a computer screen or a print. However, since we know that you are concerned with the quality of how your work is displayed, it is important to find the right projector for the job.
The folks over at ProjectorPeople have published an excellent article about projectors specifically for photographers. The article has a thorough, yet readable, overview of projector basics, color differences and concerns, and some keys for how to get the best features while staying within your budget.
The article also contains a number of practical tips that don't always jump out at you when you are just reading through product specs. Some of the tips might even save you some money. For example:
Quick Tip: In reality it's not likely you would notice a significant difference between a 1,000,000:1 and a 500,000:1 contrast ratio projector unless you were comparing them in a cave at the center of the earth (or somewhere that no ambient light reached). In real life situations, with ambient light, even the difference between a 2000:1 and 10,000:1 can be inconsequential.
If you have been looking to buy a projector, then this is a great read for framing your search. If you aren't looking for a projector, then you might bookmark this page for a later date - it's a great reference.
