  • MpixPRESS Printing Rocks!

Until recently, consumers have had very few options for photo greeting cards:  hire a professional with access to high-end photo card vendors or take their own pictures to a big-box store or consumer site with cheesy, flimsy, low-quality photo card choices.  Millions of computer-savvy middle-income families have been left with no good options -- UNTIL NOW.  ENTER MpixPRESS!

I recently ordered a large variety of press printed greeting cards from Mpix using their design/ordering software.  I downloaded the software and installed it on my computer.  The process was simple, and the software showed exactly how the card would look when printed.  The software also gave the option of adding text and graphics, but I prefer doing that myself inside Photoshop, then bringing my finished design into the card software.

The turnaround time on the cards was fabulous -- I had them on my doorstep in days, but that wasn't even the best part.  The quality is top notch and exceeded my expectations (and I'm picky)!  I know this is sounding like in info-mercial for Mpix, but these cards are so cool, I can't help it.  I'm a photographer who gives my clients their images on CD, and I know a lot of families who have nice cameras who take great pictures themselves.   I'm so excited to be able to tell my clients and friends about this!   Another great aspect is that professional photographers can use this to get their clients high-end press-printed cards using the professional images and designs the photographers have created for their clients.

The papers are types that used to only be available through photographic vendors -- professional glossy card stock, linen texture, and pearl.  The linen has a subtle cross-hatch linen texture, but you can still write on it with a standard ball-point pen -- I like that!  I can imagine very classy cards being created using this paper.  The glossy card stock is slick and beautiful, and it feels a little thicker than the linen.  The pearl paper is my favorite.  It's thicker than the other two papers, and it has a slight shimmer to it, especially on the lighter colors.  My beach & outdoor photographs absolutely shine on those pearl cards!!  And, of course, the color is always SPOT ON, just like Mpix always does for me.

Up until this year I would tell my clients to use well-known print/novelty/card providers' websites, and their cards were fine, but they could only get a picture on the front of the card. The inside could have text, and the back cover had the website's logo.  These Mpix cards are BRAND FREE -- that's SO NICE!

I didn't even tell you about the books I had made!  They're just as cool as the cards!!  All three paper types are available in the books, too!  I'll talk more about those later, so stay tuned!

  • Last Day at PhotoPlus

We have been having a great time at the PhotoPlus Expo in New York the last few days.  But, like all good things, this too must come to an end.  At four o'clock today, we will be packing things up and heading back to the Midwest.  It has been great to meet so many of you who are here and to meet a number of people who are interested in becoming customers.  Thanks to everyone who stopped by the last couple of days!  And if you are in town today, then please come on by before we head out!

Here is a pic of the team that came.  From left to right: John Rank, Samae Claspill, Jamie Stephens, Barry Coleman, Tonya Propps, and Joe Dellasega.

Here is Rick Sammon during one of his seminars at our booth:

We were also honored to have Carey Schumacher and Rosanne Penella conduct some workshops for us here as well.

  • Almost Ready for PhotoPlus

A number of us from the Mpix team arrived in New York yesterday for the PhotoPlus Expo.  We spent a good part of the afternoon setting up our new booth and trying to find storage space for all the great stuff we are wanting to display.   The expo hall was beginning to take shape by the time we left, but we're expecting it to really be alive this morning.

Here's our booth in the pre-show phase.  We still have a ways to go at this point:

If you're attending PhotoPlus or just in New York, stop by and see us in booth #2028.  We have free stuff to give out and you might even win $500 in prints!

  • On the Shoulders of Giants

One of the best ways to be inspired is to read about others who excel in their craft. The FSTOP is an online magazine that does just that. It is published just six times a year and each issue focuses on just four photographers. Instead of giving an overview of their portfolio, each article details the process of making just one of the photographer's recent images. The interviews with the photographers are great and provide an excellent behind-the-scenes look at how these artists execute their craft.

  • New Templates for Photo Greeting Cards

New templates for Photo Greeting Cards are now available.   Our new templates complement our most popular templates from past seasons.

View our entire greeting card line.

Several of our photographer friends prefer to create their own photo greeting cards in Photoshop.  To do this, simply create your 4x8" card and save it as a jpg.  Then upload the file and order a Blank Greeting Card.

Whether you use one of our popular greeting card templates or create your own, we can guarantee that your print will be of a professional print that ships in 24 hours...or less.
