  • Live From Patty G's

Our first ever Mpix Forum Meet-Up experience is going great. We've graciously been invited to Skiatook, Oklahoma for the weekend to learn, share ideas and finally put a face to the many screennames we read every day. It's been a pleasure to meet everyone.

There is truly something here for every level of user, from lighting and posing information up to how to successfully market and promote your photography business. The teachers have been patient and informative; thank you Scott, Cort, Lowry and LaDair!

There is a full day planned tomorrow of downtown wedding shots in Tulsa with Scott Plauche and many more activities throughout the weekend. We hope this will be the first of many Mpix Meet-Ups.

  • Folded Greeting Cards - 25% off until Tuesday, April 1st

I had a mentor once tell me to always have a set of cards in my desk so that when the opportunity to write a personal note presents itself I would be ready.  Think of a note you received from a friend, a manager, an employee or someone in the community.  Pretty special.  Now with our Folded Greeting Card promotion you can create your own personal cards featuring your own image(s).  Take advantage of this 25% savings, and create cards that will be both personal and touching.

Detailed steps to place your Folded Greeting Card order:

    1. Go to http://www.mpix.com/MpixPress/

     2. Download the MpixPRESS software - if you have not already done so.

    3. Once the software has been downloaded to your computer you are ready to begin.

    4. Simply drag and drop the 4.25x5.75 image into the software layout. NOTICE: Please disregard the red line within the software

Original file created in Photoshop. NOTICE: Text must be a minimum of 1/4" from the edge of the image

    5. The re-size to fill page button must be selected to correctly fill the entire template.

    6. Click the Order with MpixPRESS button

    7. The image will upload and give you a proofing PDF file option. NOTICE: Please make sure to double check the proof. The black marks on each edge will indicate where the card is trimmed. Also, make sure the image fills the white bleed area.

Here is an example of a file that is incorrectly sized. This will happen when the re-size to fill page option is not used.

    8. Once the FTP upload has completed you will be directed to an Mpix.com login page where your items will be placed in your Mpix Press shopping cart. Click the red 'checkout' button, enter your billing information and your order will be shipped shortly.

  • How to create a custom cover within Adobe Photoshop?

In early February, we introduced the Custom Cover Books to our line of MpixPRESS products. In their inaugural month, they have become very popular with customers. Many of our customers use Adobe Photoshop to creatively design the cover. To help in this creative process, we have set up guides for each book size available.

The custom cover guides are located at http://community.mpix.com/forums/t/65889.aspx

Below is an example on how to use the guides within Adobe Photoshop.

    1. Guide in Photoshop

    2. Guide/original image

Simply drag and drop the full image onto the guide template.

    3. The image must fill the bleed area. Keep text away from the edges.

    4. This is how the image will appear within the software. Please note: It will appear off-center in the software, but as long as you size the file correctly in Photoshop it will print centered.

    5. Final result

Here is another example if you place an image on the back of the book.

This is how the image will appear in the software. Again, it will appear off-center.

    1. Upload your image
    2. Select the image from your Mpix.com My Albums page
    3. Click "Order Now"
    4. Enter the quantity next to the size you would like (see screen shot below)
    5. Enter your billing and shipping information

How to Prepare Your Image for a Gallery Wrap

We receive many emails asking how to size a print for a gallery wrap. A great rule of thumb is to over-size your print by adding 2" to each side. This allows for us to wrap the image around the 1.5" frame and also staple the print to the back of the frame. For a 24x36" print, it's best to upload a 28x40" image.

!!!!!Important note!!!! Please make sure you click the Preview button to see how the image will be wrapped on the sides.

You might also check out this example that shows how to size a square gallery wrap.

    Enjoy Your New Gallery Wrap!

Gallery wraps are printed within 1-2 business days, as they take time to dry, and then shipped straight to your front door! If you have never ordered a gallery wrap, we hope you take advantage of this special offer to experience for yourself how they can turn your beautiful photos into masterpieces for all to enjoy!
