Ok.
I was given a RICOH KR-5 film camera
It has a 28-80 mm lens with macro and zoom... 3.5-4.5
There is a Vivitar auto 215 (flash?)
a M500T-zoom Thyristor electronic flash unit too....
and 4 rolls of film LOL (expired in 2007)
This was a relative's camera which probably sat in the leather camera bag since about 2007.. it's dusty and I haven't used it to see if it even works, but considering who it belonged to it was well taken care of.
So... what do I DO with this thing? I haven't used a film camera in 15-20 years and have no desire to actually use on now...
I know nothing about this thing, but I don't want to just toss it out.

Find a school journalism department that still does film work and darkroom work and donate it.

It is an inexpensive camera that uses Pentax K mount lenses. Probably manual focus.
its value is very low. Giving it awway is an option. You could also keep it and use it as a prop.
or start a collection of the entry level cameras of all the makers of the same era.

Our local HS has a photography class and they only use manual cameras so there are places that take them if you look around. I gave my 18 yr old an old camera with chemicals to mess around with developing, so you never know who it going to think that is totally cool retro!!

No Facebook....I've already been through high school.
Yes, I very much DO know who I am- thanks for asking!
"And Jennifer...I just viewed your website. Are you even a photographer or are you just prepping the food and are a cook? Photographing food versus people especially weddings are a world apart. I don't think you are qualified to judge anyone's opinion." troll
"You are claiming that I have to meet your criteria before I am entitled to express an opinion! LMAO!!! Aren't you full of yourself." troll

LOL !!!
i think I am going to hang on to it for now, definatly something I would give to somebody interesting in film or developing...maybe one of the local teenagers will be needing one and I will have one
On a side note...I went to the "local" camera shop and they had three of them for sale !! Three? thought it was funny... I hadn't ever seen one and there they were selling the old ones for $100-$300 each

I've noticed that film cameras are going back up in value. A year ago, I could buy almost any Olympus MF lens (OM system) for around $100.00 (The exceptions being the fish-eyes and the 85mm F2..which I used to own and sold like an idiot). I was looking last week for a couple of lenses, and where there were dozens available before, the store only had about ten available.
I'm guessing it is the fact that the introduction of 4/3 systems has made these lenses popular again...combined with Kodak's introduction of two new color films that are getting great reviews.
Either way, I shouldn't have procrastinated.
