    8x12 size Frames or Matts

I ordered 3 8x12 sized prints from mpix.
Today I went to AC MOORE to find frames or Matts for them. All they had was 8x10 or 9x12 sized matts and frames. SO I walked out with nothing.

Any websites anyone know of that would have frames in that size (8x12)?
    Thanks!

ps: Reason I ordered them in 8x12 is because of the issue in cropping at 8x10, which really drives me nuts!

I've had no luck with 8x12 frames, I've had to custom mat them and use 11x17 or larger frames. At least that does give you some options for off-center "museum" matting (even borders along the sides and top, with the extra at the bottom).

In some cases you can use the modular frames where you buy the long and short sides separately, you'll have to buy the mat and glass separately (custom cut).

I frame my 8x12 to a 12x16 and they look wonderful matted.

redi-mat makes 8x12, my local lab carries them, as well as 12x16 frames & also ready made frames with pre-cut mattes (I'll check the brand on the ready-made frames for 8x12). ACMoore & those type of stores are consumer oriented... which is why consumers want 8x10, and then can't figure out why 2" is "missing" from the shot, ha ha!

I don't print 8x12's & the only prints I frame (if I can help it!) are 16x20's or larger. So, no, I haven't used any of them but maybe you could find some reviews on resellerratings?

Re: 8x12 size Frames or Matts

Thanks for posting the link Melody. I actually founded Picture Frame Destination when I was unable to find frames for my pictures. Long before digital I occasionally paid for an 11x14 print from a lab so I could get an 8x12 uncropped print. We sell 8x12 unmated frames, and mats and frames that take 8x12 to 12x16 and 16x20. The 16x20 is handy for our customers that sell matted prints since it will be much easier for their customers to find a 16x20 frame. We have a size chart here. If anyone has any framing questions please feel free to contact me.

    Cheers,

I was actually just going to suggest Picture Frame Destination.  I like 8x12's, and I use the white mats with the black core for 16x20 frames.

I like that also, and the black mat with the white core for low-key shots like this one I took of my father-in-law:

Try americanframe.com.  All their frames are custom cut and come with a free mat.  Prices are pretty good too.

www.frameusa.com carries just about every frame size you can imagine!  They are the wholesale company of www.frameplace.com .  If you have a wholesalers license, you can order from there and they have great prices.
