    Photobook software

    Hello all,

A friend of mine has asked me to convert all of her family pictures into a photobook...she wants nothing fancy just black background and the ability to write captions and titles.  I am looking for suggestions on some software that is cheap, simple, and will resize the images into the page templates.

    Equipment:
    Cannon Rebel XTi
    75-300 mm (1:4-5.6) lens
    18-55 mm (1:3.5-5.6) lens
    Tripod
    Remote shutter release
    Photoshop CS3

I've been debating trying this out: http://www.smilebooks.com/ Anyone used this before? I found it linked from some professional photography website somewhere? I like it because the software is downloadable so you can work offline. And back to the original question, this "software" is free, it's the product that you would obviously pay for.

I just completed a book using Blurb and was very pleased with the outcome.  Great quality and user-friendly software.  It was a cinch.

    Re: Photobook software

I have not accepted the job yet...She wants me to "let her know how much it will be"...I figured I would do a dry run of my own photos (been meaning to anyway) first to see how much time we are talking about and then roll the cost of software into it...She has 5 or 6 years of digital photos in folders by year and then month.  My thinking was that I would plop them into the album templates and have her dictate captions for me etc.  I've already told her that she could do it herself on shutterfly but she does not want to fool with it.
