Wow. What do I say? Where do I start?
Many of you have been following us on our journey to start this contract and the day finally came. They saved up the babies for us this week and today we had 5 boys waiting on us! An average day over there is 1 - maybe 2 - babies, so we were excited and scared all at the same time.
Baby #1 - what a doll, he was under 6 pounds and a joy, nice and quiet.
Baby #2 - mom came with us - THANK GOD - because this one stopped breathing. She was fine with it as he turns blue, apparently her 1st one had the same problem with spit-up getting stuck in his throat. We only got 2 pictures of this guy cuz he was upset about choking.
Baby #3 - a baby we've been waiting on for 3 months! He's already in our Bellies & Bundles program as we took pictures of his mommy for maternity. He was born a RedSox fan and came in all dress in blue & red.
Baby #4 - another angel. Got me the best shots of the day! He held his daddy's finger and let me put a teddy bear hat on him and everything.
We spent about 5 hours there today, just getting things in order and learning how to process it all - we had to go in cold turkey since the contract with the old photography lab ended yesterday and we weren't allowed to practice on anyone.
We sold to 3 of the 4 babies we photographed (the 5th opted to be photographed tomorrow). Making about $150. Not enough to validate 5 hours, but once we get the routine down, we should be able to bust those babies out much faster.
And a lot of the time today was the nurses and other hospital staff stopping in the studio because once ONE saw some of the pictures we'd taken, they all had to see them. That will slow down soon too.
We've got a special gallery system on our website dedicated to these babies, and I don't have their pictures here yet, but you can check out the 4 galleries here .
Also, our images are now the images on the hospital's website, which you can check out here .
We know we have at least 2 babies tomorrow and the head nurse warned us we're in the midst of a baby boom because of the 3 day power outage we had last September.
We already knew this wasn't going to be a big money-maker, but the response has been overwhelmingly great! We're hoping to see more business come to the studio from this and we'll keep everyone updated!
Thanks for all your support!
