    Sad [:(] Pricing, Pricing, Pricing

    Hello All --

I am really getting started and  am looking at different pricing sheets for different things.  I want to be simple and not worry about whether it is outdoors, studios, sports, etc, of course weddings are a different story.  I don't want to be to cheap, but not too expensive either.  What do you include in your packages and how many do you offer?  I have 5 shoots for Sept 1-soccer team, 1- daycare, 3-Families.

    Please HELP!!

    Thank you!
    Joy

Hey, you can check out my website, photosbyliz.com.  I too am just starting out and I researched what alot of the more established photographers in my area are charging and I pretty much took that price down by quite a bit.  Mostly right now I'm being pretty cheap to get some jobs set up and get my name out there, but I did put on everything 'prices good thru 12/31/05'.  I'm hoping that by then I'll be more established and can move my prices way up and step into leagues with the pros.  Hope that helps!

    Hey Liz,

Cute pictures.  What kind of lighting do you use?  I have two flood lamps and a hair light and I am thinking about getting alienbees b400 flash set.  Do you know if I would need 2 of them or if I would still want to keep my flood lights?

Thanks, my lighting is nothing fancy, just a two flash set I got off of ebay.  I want some bees too!  I'm wanting a better lens, then after that I'm going after the bees! I've actually never used flood lights so I really can't comment on that.  I'm pretty happy using flash though!

Oh, and yes, I order all from mpix and I think they do a great job.  I actually get all of my film developed and straight to a cd at a local lab, then I can do what I want with my images in photoshop and upload them to mpix.  I guess it's kind of a half digital setup but it works for me so far!

    Liz,

I so did this for a few years, before I went digital! At wal mart they wanted to only put one roll on one cd and charge me almost $5, but at c v s they would put up to four rolls on one cd and charge me only a little over $2!

Wow! I didn't realize how old this post was. I guess I was doing it at the same time you were, with the cds! LOL!

Man these old posts keep popping up!!  I think I finally went digital in early '06. I think my prices then were like $1.50 for a 5x7 or something.  Hehe.  The sad part is that I'm still using those same crappy lights! Crying Of course from mid-'06 till early this year I took a pretty big "break."
