    White backgrounds looking blue

I'm having issues with my white background pictures looking blue when Mpix prints them.  They look fine on my monitor.  I use Spyder2 to calibrate my monitor, however, they still come back blueish.

    Help

It may be time for a new monitor

Two things... First, are you letting MPIX color correct for you?  If not, you may want to try that.  Second, post one that you had a problem with and let us look at it on our many monitors and see if you can get a consensus on whether it is out of whack or not.

I am not very pleased with the state of color calibration these days.  I was better off ignorant.  Now I just KNOW I'm not calibrated correctly (although I don't think I'm horribly off) but even with a Spyder, I get junk using their calibrations.  I'm not sure why.  I tend to lean towards trusting my SOOC colors in order not to screw things up.

I also e-mail to my wife and to work and look at those monitors as well.  Basically, for web publishing if I can get it to look decent on three random monitors like that, I consider it ok.  And for printing I trust MPIX to auto color correct.  So far... that is working.

I agree with what others have mentioned..  Would also like to ask if you're printing on E-Surface or Metallic paper?  From what I've seen the Metallic paper gives a slight bluish tint to whites.

What standards do you have your monitor calibrated to? It is very possible that you are using different standards or ICC profiles in your color management than what Mpix is using. If you are then it is likely that your color management is putting the blue in the background.

Color management works very well when done right and causes lots of headaches when not done right. The problem is that most photographers are not willing to do it right because of the time and cost involved.

The easiest thing to do is make sure you have the right ICC profile that Mpix uses set for the image and then go into the background and read the RGB values. If they are even then it is a problem at Mpix if not then you have a problem.
