There is all this talk about brides and thier expectations/attitudes/silly questions. What do you think are some really good questions you have been asked by brides (etc)? What do you think they should have asked? what would you prefer that all brides know about wedding photography?

a friend of mine is getting married and since I dont do weddings (plus I am the moh) I am helping her find a photographer. I have already warned her about price and timeline. but I was wondering if there is anything else......

There are tons of websites that give lists of good questions, but here are some that I've been asked that stick out:

• How many weddings have you done?
• Do you bring backup equipment?
• Do you have a backup photographer?
• Do you edit the images (retouch) before I see them?
• Do you let me see all the images that were taken (or most)?
• Are you full time?

The specific answers aren't as important as the way they respond. Are they confident? Is this something that they've thought about? Do you get the feeling they're hiding anything?

I would make sure the samples are what you'd want (portraits? Candid? What they display is probably their strong point. Don't expect something you don't see!) and make sure the personality fits well. You'll be spending lots of time the day of the wedding with the photographer, make sure it's a good fit!

I have looked at some wedding sites, but most of the brides in forums have no idea and just complain about prices or bad photographers. and some 'must ask' lists are silly.

heres a nice bit from a 'selecting a wedding photographer' article: "Also request to see your proofs before you make the final payment." how many wedding photographers have the final payment after the wedding?
