they eyes are the windows to the soul

I find it so fascinating how someone  - even a stranger - can communicate with me through their eyes -  and vice versa... as in the monk picture, the Massai picture and in the picture of the elderly man. i work on that, very hard.

to me, the model looks cold. or is it me? it could be.

anyway... share you thoughts on the eyes in these pictures.

post  a picture in which you feel you communicated with the subject.

a few more of my people pictures are on www.ricksammmon.com.

    thanks!
    rick
p.s. what's your favorite portrait - where i am communicating with the subject?

What a great thought! I will have to search for one and post it later. I don't think the model looks cold...but she is the only one with a more forced smile(if you can call it forced) the other three look like they are just more natural.

    Rick,

Before I even read what you said about the pictures I thought that picture of the girl looked odd.  Kinda outta place, then I read your statement and I agree, I also think it has something to do with the back ground, the others, to me draw your eye in and makes you feel warm and fuzzy LOL!  Shes kinda just there.  Hows these eyes...

the first was sooc except for the crop.  this one was shadow/highlight and a little dodge directly on the eyes.

How about pure joy? This was at a recent Ambassadors Session, and This girl and her best friend came and just laughed and played the whole time, it was so fun, I have very few serious poses from this session but this shot just grabbed me because of the eyes...

This is my first post on here.  Please give me some feedback.  This is one of my favorite photo's.  This little by was only 4 weeks old in this photo, but his eye's tell a story.  Thanks for your time.

Rick, I personnali like the girl and the monk myself. The girl has great catchlight, and I think she communicates it the best. The monk just has that joy in his facial expression that is communicative. The masai seems a little uneasy. I like the older gentleman as well, but eyes wise, the girl and the monk "talk to me " more.

Here's my favorite eye related shot: Let me know what you think!

Rick, here is my nephew.  He refuses to be still for me to take pictures.  He just doesn't care!  But we where talking about his Easter basket in this one!

    Rick Sammon:

The one image that keeps popping back into my mind is #26 in your face to face gallery.  He is also the 2nd to bottom image in the 1st row on your home page.  Very mysterious!

Yeah, we were communicating alright! Indifferent

This is my daughter and most challenging client.  She keeps coming back to me, though.  Seriously, I don't know why she just doesn't find another photographer.  I guess she just likes my work. Wink

I don't think the eyes are just the window to the soul of people.  Here's one I took recently and I love the expressiveness of this guy's eyes....

This is one of Pearl looking out of her stall. She's one of the sweetest, most intelligent horses we have, and I've tried to capture her being a bit "introspective"....then again, she may just be thinking about the bale of alfalfa sitting across the aisle from her. Smile I really love the shot of that dog with the dunes behind it. Brilliant!
