This is a fun thread! It took me a day or two to respond because I had to dig out my wedding album and scan a couple of photos. I got married in 1979 so these aren't modern at all!

Look at the tux....that definitely dates the shot much more than the bridal gown.

That's what I was thinking. I think it's the same style of vest my dad wore at his and mom's wedding in 1976.

I love your photos, Artistic Images. It says 'classic' and 'classy' to me. I actually love the material of the wedding gown, so soft-looking.

Patty, I love your pictures...you all look so much in love. Just think in 20 years all these young brides will look back on their pics and say OMG...what was I thinking? And then I can tell them the same thing I've been saying...you were absloutely beautiful on your special day and the dress you wore will always be a very special part of that wonderful day...it's the one you wore to marry the man of your dreams. Thanks pattyg! Things have really changed, though. I remember going to one store and trying on one dress and buying it right there on the spot. With Heather we shopped several times, and she tried on at least 100 dresses and then had to special order and have alterations.... but I wasn't quite as "picky" as she is! *LOL* And mowgli111 - yours are BEAUTIFUL! I love the car in the background. What is it?

Re: I'll show you mine...now post yours
I guess mine were more "PJ" before that was really in style (sounds better than snapshots, anyway...LOL). A very sweet family friend shot ours (both the wedding and engagement shot for the newspaper) as our gift. We probably wouldn't have had anything, otherwise. First one is our engagement picture - May, 1988 (I'm sure I wouldn't have had to tell you it was the 80's once you saw the hair and "Brooke Shields" eyebrows):
And some wedding shots, these two during the ceremony on June 24, 1988:

And the reception, immediately after. Notice that we wasted no time getting a headstart on what would become our "figures" today...LOL (and now you know why I'm almost unrecognizable - for those of you that have met me) :
Strike a pose? (I have no idea .....)
The garter shot :
I wonder why film prints scan SO dark? The originals are old, granted, but definitely not this dark.

Thanks ArtisticImages, The car is a 1939 Oldsmobile. It had suicide doors, and we rode in it from the wedding, then to a park for pictures. It was so fun!

Michell, I've met you and believe me...your beauty is all still there, so it's very easy to recognize you, no matter what you're wearing. PattyG

This is a great thread!!! I've had a lot of fun looking at everyone's photos. I took a picture of my picture, so the clarity is not there. I was married in March of 1978. And, I like a lot of you, don't look like this anymore. I think I weighed a whopping 110 lbs and I thought I was fat!!! debi
Love my MPIX family!!!!

This is so funny....I opened an old Photoshop disc today, and what did I find...another scan! This is bad...I'm like that customer that we all worry about! lol! In this one you can see our faces better. I'm glad you're all having fun with this thread!

Re: I'll show you mine...now post yours
I just got home from a week in sunny Coronado, California (San Diego) and have been trying to catch up on the forums! I saw this thread and thought it was so cool! Here is my contribution! This was in 1988. This was the first dress I tried on and absolutely fell in love with it--it was my dream dress! I just didn't have enough money to get it, but my mom saw it and told me I had to have it! We made payments on it for almost a year! I got married in a castle, so had to have a princess dress! It wasn't in "fashion" to wear a tiara or I would have worn one!! I loved how it looked from the back!
