    Using indoor flash

Hi everyone.  I am new to the photography business and I seem to have an issue using my flash indoors. I have an Olympus E-510 and when I think I may need to use the internal flash, the pictures look dark,so I don't use the flash; I even purchased an external flash, AF TTL Flash, thinking that I would need it but haven't had much use for it.  Is there a setting I need to set......  Does anyone have any advice.....

    Hi

I have an Olympus E-500 and do not have any problems using the on camera flash inside.  What setting are you using on your camera and what kind of back ground are you using?

I have been shooting in RAW on manuel and set the flash on manuel also.  On the flash there is a wheel you turn to see how much light you need to get from the flash.  Have you used any different setting on your camera to see what your result are?

    Re: Using indoor flash

thank you so much for the quick reply.  I normally use "auto" setting or one of the presets, such as potrait, sports, night, etc. I am normally shooting using a muslin background.  I didn't even know there was a wheel on the flash........

I was trying to switch over to RAW,  and not jpeg, but don't think I did it correctly.  I have try a few different settings, not many.  Any suggestions for the settings.  You have really been helpful.......thanks again!

    Hi

On your camera turn it on and press your menu button, you get a screen and where the ok button is press the arrow on the right.  You will lite up the card setup, press the iso button and it will scroll down to the wrench (2) , when you get to that point press the iso button and it will take you to where to change to jpeg, raw, tiff and select raw.  Press the menu botton and you are ready to go.

On the flash, I have the FL-36 when you turn it on and on the camera you can turn the wheel under test/charge to change the output of the flash.

Try that and see what you get...............good luck on your pictures.
