Great pictures! Great camera! Soon you will be carrying it with you everywhere you go. I have Canon EOS Rebel and the Rebel XT.  And I agree with Eric this is a good forum for learning.

Vipray... great job.. I noticed you have a 50mm 1.8

Do the exact same thing you did with the assignment, but use THAT lens..and take it down to 1.8..

You'll have more butta than John Goodman has in his arteries...

Precisly Noel.  One thing you might want to try, now that you got the larger f/ number = more butta, try moving around the flower till the background is farther away from the flower, to get even more butta.

you mean like phsyically move the flower more forward?

Or maybe find something to focus on that has more seperation from the background?

That, or it looks like the other side of the flower is farther away from the background than the side you chose.  If you focus on something close, like a flower, and the background is farther away, than your butta will melt more and more.Im guessing the flower and it's background were about 8-10 inches apart.  Try another angle or another flower with the background about 3+ feet away from the subject.  You will just melt that butta!!!

I am new to this forum and interested in improving my photography.  I started reading this forum and decided to post some of my photos for some of these assigments.  The pictures are SOOC.  I realize I am late, but.....  hopefully, I won't be sent to detention.

    Thanks for your help.

Finally, I can respond to this.

These are probably not the most technically sound pictures, I was just trying to get the point of the lesson.

    f/3.5

    f/8.0

f/20 - by this point my shutter speed was too slow for me to hand hold, it's blurred a bit
