    Photoshop Elements 6 Effects

Hi. Can anyone please explain a simple way to give a photograph a vintage effect using Photoshop Elements 6? Where it's still color, but a little muted. Also, when taking portrait photos of newborns against a black or white background (fabric), when editing the digital pictures, how can I easily make the background look more solid where you don't see color variations & wrinkles in the fabrics? Any advice is welcome....I'm just learning! Thanks!! Smile

    I don't have 6 but I have 5. I don't use the effects for this.
This is what I do. Add a gradient map layer and then reduce to a very low opacity.

    Come see what we have!

that is a good way to go.

you might also try an adjustment layer for the Hue/Saturation dialog then move the saturation slider to the left.

also check the effect of the brightness slider.
