How the hell does a MOTHER forget her child or worse... do it on purpose?
She needs to go the same way IMO.

OH that is too too sad. Happens every summer somewhere. It's just so hard to comprehend how it happens.
It's happened around Tulsa a couple of times in the past years. Someone just gets too much on their mind and then forgets the child is in the car. Totally devastates the parents and I can't imagine how in the world you would ever get over it. I think I would be in therapy for the rest of my life....no one would ever be able to convince me to forgive myself...would never happen.
Just heartbreaking.

Re: OMG!!! .... "Boy Dies In Hot SUV On Mom's Wedding Day "
I could NOT even come close to imagining...TERRIBLE....... I do have to say that I can see how it could happen.....I've been one VERY sleep deprived NEW mom, and had to many things to do (that i shouldn't have said yes to) and I get VERY forgetfull......not saying I think I would forget my kid in the car, but I'm sure they never thought they would either.....this is why i say she didn't do it on purpose......
say it's her wedding day.....she puts kid or kids in car and goes to drop them off at grandmas so she can go get her nails done....baby falls asleep in the car on the way......in the RUSH of the day grandma is trying to help unload the car, and mom thought grandma got baby....but she didnt...she drives to nail appointment, baby in back asleep not making a sound..........she gets out of the car it's 100 degrees outside.....goes in to get her nails done...that baby doest last long in that car....YES it was her FAULT, BUT Accidents happen, and unfortunately this one cost a life (probably moms life to, in retrospect) This woman is gonna have a hard time.....i really don't know if i could handle it.........
OBVIOUSLY i don't know what happened on this day, you just NEVER know HOW is happened!

Re: OMG!!! .... "Boy Dies In Hot SUV On Mom's Wedding Day "
I dunno i hate to judge but my feelings are, any time i EVER dropped my kids off anywhere i always kiss them a "later" kiss (never a good bye as that seems too much like forever) and i'd know if one wasn't there for their kiss....maybe i was a very overprotective mom, but i just can't imagine forgetting one of the most important things in my life, no matter how busy i was??? can't imagine it, no i can't....can't imagine what the mom is going thru, and don't want to really, it is so very sad, no matter what the reasons are.....
Karrie If you can't be a good example, you will just have to be a horrible warning.

YES! Maybe it was to late.....I'm not tring to start a debate here, i just thought it was harsh for someone to say this woman did this on purpose....we never truely know what is going on in someones lives to make judgements like that about someone.....I just feel bad that the mom made this HORRIBLE mistake.

Re: OMG!!! .... "Boy Dies In Hot SUV On Mom's Wedding Day "
Being a Grandma, I know that sometimes kids (and this was a little boy, not a baby) get in the car when parents leave. I've seen it happen. I'm thinking they are staying with me and then Mom or Dad lets them go with them.
We don't know what happened, why he was in the car....and I sure never want to be in her shoes. I'm not gonna judge her or even ask what happened. It's all irrelevant now anyway...her son is gone and her life is drastically and horribly changed forever. I really, really feel for her.
She may have to do some jail time too. They can press charges. The couple that happened here did get sentenced...put on probation, but they are convicted felons now.

It is things like this that terrify me about being a mom. I'll be the first to admit that I get distracted easily and it has crossed my mind on more than one occassion - "how am I ever going to be able to remember a child??" I'm sure it is FTM jitters, but then seeing an article like this scares me all over again.
It is definitely a horrible situation.

Re: OMG!!! .... "Boy Dies In Hot SUV On Mom's Wedding Day "
I know a mom (a VERY GOOD, caring mother) who was rushing to get all her kids to their different places one night. One kid at this practice, one kid at this house, etc. She came to pick up one of her children at bball practice and sat down (the first time she had done that all day) to wait for her daughter to finish up. We were all sitting talking when her four year old son wandered into the gym from the parking lot. The look of horror on her face was impossible to miss, and you could tell she was trying hard not to be sick to her stomach. He had fallen asleep in the backseat of the car, and in her rushing from here to there, she had totally forgotten he was there. She made a big mistake that could have been life threatening if it had been a hot day or if some pervert had been around and snatched him. However, but for the Grace of God go I . . .

I wanted to cry when I saw this on the news! This happened about an hour away so I have been getting little updates on the tube. I don't think that they are going to charge her. They believe that the boy snuck back in the car, playing his favorite game- hide and seek. The person who was suppose to be watching him noticed that he was missing but didn't think anything of it. They played the 911 call on the news and it truly is heartbreaking!

Re: OMG!!! .... "Boy Dies In Hot SUV On Mom's Wedding Day "
So so sad!
I can totally see how this could happen. People are just so busy these days and don't slow down to think every action through. Myself included!
When I was still working out of my house, my hubby would have to take the kids somewhere each time I had a shoot. Never a question of having them there. Well, this time it was during the baby's nap time, so I told him to just lay her down and she could stay with me while he took the other's to the park. After the session was over, I went to the park to join them. Pulled up in the parking lot and was looking around for the baby where everyone was playing and realized...................................oh crap! I had left her sleeping in her crib.
So, exactly my point. We get so used to our routines that when something changes, we don't stop to remember.

Re: OMG!!! .... "Boy Dies In Hot SUV On Mom's Wedding Day "
Unfortunately things like this happen all the time. Does it mean that these people are bad parents? I don't think so!
One thing I've learned is that kids are attracted to vehicles, there's alot of moving parts & it really does appear to be an easy thing to operate. We respond to several incidents each year where children were playing with vehicles. Most of those are kids who get in a car, somehow manage to lock themselves in and can't get out.
My fire department runs lights and sirens to any calls of children locked in vehicles. 9 times out of 10 the parents are freaking out! Things happen, life gets in the way sometimes. I've actually had a neighbor of a person we responded to for this same thing ridicule us for "responding" like we did to "it's a kid locked in a car"
I advised her to go sit in her car until I came to get her for a statement. When I went to get her she was drenched in sweat, I think she then understood. (she had her window down) I won't go into the rest of the conversation.

Re: OMG!!! .... "Boy Dies In Hot SUV On Mom's Wedding Day "
We had a family in our church many years ago who had their 10th child. The first Sunday they brought the baby to church, they carried her in in her car seat and kind of tucked the carseat under the pew so the baby could sleep.
When church was over, they packed the kids all up and went home. AFTER they got home, someone noticed that the baby wasn't there. They rushed back to the church and found her still sound asleep under the pew just like they had left her.
I suppose that if someone could forget their newborn at church, they could probably also, in the rush of today's society, not notice them in their car. And since this was a 4 year old who probably got himself into the car with no one even knowing, it would be even more believable that the mother had no idea he was there. I feel for the lady! How devastating this has to be!!

talk about gut wrenching... I can't even begin to imagine what that mom is dealing with. I hope she can move on with her life and this doesn't kill her too....
The photographer formerly known as "Punkydoodles" I think they should play porn at gas stations - it's about time we watch someone else get screwed!
