what do we want for lesson #10?

Is it too hot out for more camera handling?

there are a couple thing we have not covered.

    Groups, Close-ups, more flash...  ?

what about some more PS lessons?

I have a group of actions I labled "finising touches"

but that pretty much only works for those of us that use a full on Photoshop.

what about generating brushes, patterns, and custom shapes?

perhaps a discussion of the curves dialog as opposed to the levels dialog?

    pick one or two.

answering "yes please!" wont help us prioritizeBig Smile

How about a lesson on natural lighting. - open shade? - camera position relative to sun and subject - finding good light or even knowing what good light is. Just an idea - levels and curves would be good to.

I second this vote!!  I really need it.  Although the natural light idea is also excellent

I'm just happy there will be a lesson #10!  My 1st vote would be for one on natural light, since I don't have a good PS program yet.  (Of course, I can always print it out and study it for later!)  But maybe there are some rules for natural light I'm missing.  A lot of times mine are too bright, even in shady areas, and I'm not sure if it's my lens or something I can dial down in-camera to get more brilliant colors and more detail in their faces.  Then my next vote would be for groups.  But I'll be happy learning anything new!

Another vote for this.  While I only have Elements 5.0 I DO have the FREE Smart Curves filter.  It seems to do *most* of what you can do with PS regarding curves.

I's also like to see something on adding drama to your shot.  Be it through camera angles or lighting choices or both.  (Or any other way I might not know about.Stick out tongue  )

    Thanks,

Everything that has been suggested is great. I would also suggest a lesson on posing your subject so they look thier best. Maybe go over a few of the rules. For many people this is one of the hardest things in photography.

You really want this to be about PP and not Camera Handling?

Are you all proficient in shooting In Manual?

Know what lens to use for which situation?

Know about Focusing Modes? Are your Pics sharp?

    Know about Metering Modes?

But this is just me...I may be totally off base...Just sayin...

That one has my vote!  My metering consists of leaving it on one mode, and then guess the differences based on the lcd and histogram.

I agree about having the lesson on actual camera skills instead of pp. If we all get good enough with our camera skills we wont need pp (haha right )

I am also interested in this. My focus tends to be a little soft at times and I have a hand held light meter, would like to figure that out.  Toni

I am new and willing to learn whatever the experts are willing to teach me!!  PP was the first suggestion, and I said "yes, I need that!!"  and then more and more suggestions have come up, and I say "yes, I need that".  I need it all.

I am grateful to you all for taking your time to teach the newbies!!  Thank you.

Am I too late to chime in? I say let's learn metering. What is the difference between the metering modes. An example of them all and how to meter?

I'd like to change my vote.  To either when to use what metering modes OR getting sharper pictures handheld.

ALSO - the white balance lesson was supposed to be 2 part I thought - I know I never posted my homework on that one - but I had just done it a month or two ago in a class I paid for.....But she never went beyond that really.

Re: what do we want for lesson #10?

o.k. a more or less split here...

    I figured so.Wink

I have the curves iamges ready to go

and the fact is, after you get the idea of why curves might be a finer tool than levels, the lesson is done.

remember though, most people use some of both. (for you scrappers it is like the difference between a scissors and a punch)

so I'll put that up Monday. lesson 10: "Dangerous Curves Ahead"

that will give us some time to generate some images for lesson 11:"Metering Modes, how to spot the average matrix"

(we may want a black target with a white center or a brightly lit face against a dark background)
