I'm a beginner. I have a digital camera for which there seems no way to reduce the number of pixels when taking a picture. It's not covered in the camera instruction manual.  I plan to sell some film equipt on eBay and don't want to lose interest in an item when the accompanying picture takes a long time to download. Do I do that after the pictures are downloaded to my computer ?

The easiest way, if you have Windows, is to download "Image Resizer" from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx

 

After you install it all you do is right click on the image and change to the size you need.

I'm a big fan of Picasa from google, it's free and easy to use. It also doesn't change the original file. Just open the folder, highlight the pics you like and export them to a folder on your desktop, using  the resize option to pic the size you want the longest side.

I understand a program called Fastone does this too.

You should be able to set the camera to take small files directly without needing to process them at all. "small" may be relative though.

You could also try using the menu to go into the REC mode, then set the aspect ratio to 4x3 then the image quality can go as small as 640x480.

I'm glad you got me back to looking at the manual. In looking at REC mode on p. 61 I came across p. 27 which shows a mode for emails and attaching pictures to websites. I'll rephotograph the items for eBay.

I went to the panasonic web site, in the support section, then the manual section to find the manual for the camera online. "lol" = laugh out loud lmao= laugh my a$$ off RTFM= Read the fancy manual Dave

I have two Nikon MF AI lenses. One is a 50mm 1.4 Nikkor and the other is a 135mm 2.8 Nikkor MF AI lens. When rotating the aperture ring and looking through the lens when off the camera I don't see the aperture blades closing down on either lens. When the lenses are on the camera and rotating the aperture ring while depressing the preview lever ( Nikon FM manual film camera )  the viewfinder darkens with the 50mm but not the 135mm.

I have another seperate 50mm 1.4 MF AI lens which aperture blades do close down. Blades close down on a Nikkor 35mm-70mm Auto Focus lens in addition.

Do I have two defective lenses ?
