Outdoor session with my 4 year old son, CC please

What do you think of the following 3 pictures?  Please give CC for lighting, composition, posing, anything else you can think of that stands out.  Also, what do you think of the Midnight Sepia effect on number 3?  Does it work, does it not, why or why not?

    #1

    #2

    #3

LOVE the comp on #1 and the golden lighting is good but i don't see any catchlights in his eyes.  It doesn't both me that much because I'm sure his eyes are near black anyway but some will mention that (i get it ALL the time so I'm working to look for those).

#2 is good but a little too centered (he's such a cutie)

Love #3 but not the action.  See how yellow he looks on the left side?  If you convert it to BW then run the sepia it would be nice but honstly, I think the color version would work best for this one.

One more note, #2 could have used a wider aperture to blur out some of the rocky stuff behind the fence.

     Kim,

Your shots are really looking nice. What a cutie, funny how the kids look even cuter when the photos are improved.  I think Rosemary covered what I was thinking. #3 doesn't work for me becuase the area where is head is, is too dark and kind of blends together. Might work if he was walking towards a lighter background. I think for this kind of shot I'd use the rule of thirds for cropping and do B&W, Chocolate or a color wash technique. Keep posting, I love seeing your progress, you are doing better than me, you should have seen my last set of football shots I took in the rain. Yikes!

    I love #1, #2 is great too.
I like the shot in #3, but I really don't like the color play on it. And his head does wash away with the fence and shadow.
