I've read some of the threads for the other planned meetups.  And I'm concerned about them ever happening.  I'm going to tell you why.  And please take this as honest concern and not just criticism.

I really want you to have your meetups..they are just too much fun and you can learn so much at one.  And there are so many who can't travel across the country to go to one, so one close to home would work out so well for so many.

I see people signing up, at least on here.  I see some working on hotel reservations.  Some are planning on who's gonna teach what.  Some are asking questions.  Some are saying where they want to stay.

So who's in charge of these meetups?  I don't see a person in charge in some of them.  I see a few who are working on the meetups and trying hard to make them happen.  But who is the leader?

Each meetup has to have someone who knows all the details, has a list of who is going to be there with email addresses, cell phone numbers, when they are coming, who's coming with them, where are they staying, knows if they have paid their meetup fee (if there is one), knows who to contact for hotel info, knows who is going to be teaching what, knows what the agenda is.

Someone has to be the coordinator of each meetup.  Someone has to be contacting the Mpixers who have signed up and let them know the agenda, find out for definite if they still plan on attending...someone to be in charge and know all the details for the meetup.  Someone for everyone else to ask questions of.

Is there anyone for these meetups that knows all this info?  I really hope there is and you prove me wrong.

If not, then somebody step up to the plate, take charge and make them happen.  Someone has to or some of these are gonna fall off the radar.  And that would be such a shame with so much planning already gone into them.  Plus some hotel reservations that are gonna cost someone some money and that just plain can't happen.

Let's see 2008/2009 be the best Mpix meetups ever all over the country!  Mpix Meetups rock and everyone should get a chance to go to one.  Just one person is all that's needed...someone to say, I'm at the plate and ready to start swinging!

Mama planned the biggest meetup so far in Mpix history, so take her advice. Planning a meetup can be as involved as you want to make it, but someone does have to be the point person.

I love seeing Mpixers meeting up around the country. And don't think that it has to be a big multi-day conference type of thing. Make is a small gathering to shoot on a random day. But make sure that there is someone that has all of the answers or can find them for the people wanting to join up.

Also, be sure to some back here after your meet-ups and post pictures for the rest of us. (And label the people so we know who they are! LOL) This is a great family and I love to see all of our family unions and reunions going on.

I have to say I'm worried about the Savannah one, especially since Karma was the one trying to ge the hotels, etc. worked out and now she's not going to be able to even be there.  I'd love to go and I'm still hoping to, if they have it. 

I know what it's like to plan a party for four or for four-hundred and it's a real job.  So whoever takes on the task will hopefully have the time to put into it.  I know things happen that are unforeseen, like with Karma, but nobody else has stepped up to the plate it would seem. 

I truly wish I had the time to do it myself but I just don't.  I really think somebody more local to the area would be a better choice for chairperson anyway.  hint hint to Jen  **giggle**  It only makes sense though since a local would know the area better and could better guide people in the right direction as far as hotels and would know the locations we could use for shooting, etc.

Ms. Patty, from what I can tell, your meet-up was great and very organized and I commend you because I do love to plan parties and I know what work you had to do to put that all together.

Meetups take planning and work to set up?  Dang....I sure was mislead.  I thought all we did was slap people with weiners and get free tshirts.

I will say, to those involved with Savannah...sorry...but my family requested me and they win (ok, my MIL did and she's payin' so she wins!). I'm sure the Savannah one is going to rock (I can't recall who all I emailed the house info to that I had looked into but if someone needs it I'll try and find it again). I wish I could make it...there's so many I want to meet that won't be at WV :S

WV....WV IS gonna rock too! I'll be there with bells on! And I know the team working on that is busting rear to make it awesome!

We must've had a good planner for OK Shootout... I thought all it was was a few emails going out saying come her to this place on these dates... Get weiner flogged and Free T-shirts!  That was the marketing plan...  You did Awesome Ms. patty!!!!

I think WV (East Coast Shooters) is gonna ROCK!  I know several people have had to cancel for one reason or another, but there are still a lot of us looking forward to it.  I think Tammy and Gro have spearheaded most of this one, although I'm closer and willing to do whatever needs done.  I think it will come together fine. . . . !  Hooray for us!!!

I'm very glad to hear that the WV meetup is turn out great.  Hope you all have a fantastic time.

And the Savannah meetup can be great too.  Melissa, you can do it...it's not hard, just takes some planning.  And getting some great help from fellow Mpixers...no one does these things on their own...takes a Community

Meetups are too much fun and a lot to learn to ever let one slip through the cracks!
