...To helping the Critique Forum become what it was intended to be.

To everyone, don't post more than 2 - 4 (preferably 2) shots if you really want a good critique, if some see more than that, they will not even look at the thread, they close it and go on.  It's much too hard and takes too much time to critique lots of photos.

To the long time (or even less) Mpixers....critique at least 2 to 4 threads a day and look for the ones that don't have many replies.  Even if they don't tell us what they want, you can still tell them what's good or bad about a shot.  Be patient.  They'll figure it out eventually.  And above all else, be POSITIVE and give them advice on how to improve it.  Leave the negativity at the door.

To the advanced photographers...ask questions and be prepared...we'll critique your shots to the best of our ability, with good honest, informative critiques.  Advanced photographers, do your part to critique other advanced photographers.  We all need it....it's just so easy to get into a rut and quit trying to improve.

To the beginning/intermediate photographers...lace up the boot straps...and remember we're trying to help you grow.  It may get rough, but hang in there...we're trying to keep it positive, informative and helping you become a better photographer.

To the newbies on the forum....read the 2nd thread at the top of this section..great guidelines to follow.  Don't just say "how is this"...tell us what you want to know...focus, color, composition, conversion, editing, etc.  Help us help you.  And be patient....it may take a while for someone to respond and if it goes off the page, try again later.  Don't give up, don't get upset...make us pay attention.  Post again.

We're all here for the same reason, we love photography, we love Mpix and this forum, we all have big egos (we are artists) that need stroking and we all can learn so much from each other..so let's all work together and watch the Critique Forum become the best part of the Mpix Community Forum.  May be hard though, that Tutorial Forum is topnotch!  And General is just too much fun somedays.

Thank you sooooo much PattyG, this is exactly what I was hoping this forum was and I could not have said it better. I've being lurking for a while now, but lately have been almost afraid to post. I will definately get my work on here for an honest and helpful critique. You all have so much talent to share and I guess just starting out I'm really needing some of it to come my way. Thank you for the welcome to the "new" critique section.

Well said!  I know I've been really lazy here lately about critiquing.  Seems I go through spells of slacking off.  Here's hoping my resolution lasts this time.

It seems like a lot of the popular photogs on this site could write a topic saying that they just farted and it would get 20 replies!  Others, nada. 

I'm guilty myself of admiring certain photogs' style and when I see their post, I'll click on it first.

Jim, I opened this scrolled down and saw your post...WTH is he doing and then I read Shelly's and WTH is she talking about?  You all really had me confused.  I thought WTH did I ask them to do anyway....thought I had totally screwed my challenge up. 

Then I read JE's post....whew...thought I was losing my mind!

I agree & I accept the challenge, gave my 3 cents on at least 2 diff posts already today...

 Can I ask for less photos in threads when asking for critique?  It's frustrating to try to critique a thread when theres a million photos in there.  In the past I've just picked out one or two to comment on, but lately if I see a ton of images, I just click away.  I guess I see that as more of a sharing thing....or maybe I'm just a wanker.
