press ctrl and print screen at the same time. This copies the screen, then take your cursor to your document, email, whatever, right click and paste. That will do it.

yeap, the "print screen" button copies the entire screen to the clipboard.

control+print scr will copy the active window to the clipboard.

from that you can paste into a new document in your image editor.

    in psCS3 the sequence is

file> new> from clipboard> (this will set up the empty document) then you need to paste again.

so either: image> paste; or type contol+v.

after you have the screen shot in the image editor, you can crop, or add to it as needed.

Alt-printscreen will keep the capture to the current program in use.

this is alt-print screen. It only shows my open browser.  The rest of the apps aren't shown.

My mistake, Dave is right, alt+print scr captures the active window to the clipboard.

so if the application is active that goes to the clipboard.

if a dialog such as levels is active, that goes to the clipboard by itself.

It will put your capture in a folder you designate
