  • Aperture Help Please!

I am new to Aperture. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to color in certain objects on a black & white photo and how to create collages using this software? If there is not a way, do you know what software is compatible with Apple computers that have the capability of doing this? Thank you so...

  • Lighting Issues Shooting Hockey

I've recently been named the "official" photographer of our local single A pro hockey team. I went to practice yesterday and was incredibly disappointed with my photos. Obviously not being an NHL team, the lighting wasn't the best in the world, but I can't use my flash due to shooting...

  • Posting Gear Info Again.... this time NOT in one paragraph :-)

HI All A few weeks ago I posted a list of my gear (that will be published in my next book in Oct.) The chapter was posted as ONE long, eye-crossing paragraph. I could not figure out why, until now. I posted it though Safari on my Mac. Here it is posted through Firefox. Sorry for all those crossed eyes...

  • Think Ahead - Envision the End Result

Hi All I know you all think ahead... thinking about what you can do with an image in the digital darkroom. I do that all the time. Here is just one example. When I took this snapshot of the Golden Gate Bridge last week, I envisioned the end-result in Apple's Aperture. I used the Crop, Straighten...

  • shooting families - people in focus while keeping the bknd blur...

So I am now shooting with an L Lense EF24-70mm 2.8 on my Canon 20D which I love. I have a contemporary/modern/artistic style and like to shoot wide open at 2.8/3.2. Previously I could only shoot at 5.6 and that just wasn't all that great. Mostly I shoot ONE person at a time. A baby, a senior, a model...

  • Re: Fuji Finepix S9000

RedBarn: Do you recommend that I keep practicing with the Fuji until I have a better grip on manual settings? I still don't have the hang of apperature. Yes, and read some good books: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0817463003/ref=pd_kar_gw_1/002-9885315-1713611?%5Fencoding=UTF8%2CUTF8&v=glance&n...

  • Re: Sharpness help

I'm sorry, but if you don't know anything about aperture and shutter speeds, that is a definitely a problem! My suggestion is to read as many photography books that you can get your hands on! You also need to have your camera manual pretty much memorized. That would probably help a lot. Keep...

  • Re: Photo Tip of the Week #2 (12/10/06)

Rick, very good point regarding F-stops. I completely agree. I think it is important to know the limits of all your lenses, and work around them.
