  • Re: Who owns the copyright?

Yep ... I agree ... without a agreement she is the copyright holder of the images (she is the creator) that being said in some situations that would not hold true ... for instance if you set the shot totally and instructed her to press the button at a certain time ("ok shoot") then she becomes...

  • Opinion on customers request

I was wondering if you could give me your opinion on something. I have a customer that has requested that I not put my watermark on the front of her pictures. She said that they take away from the photos. I put - © Doodlebug ’07 - in the bottom right corner of all of my prints. I put it very small so...

  • Copying Pictures vs Losing Memories? Making Money?

Another thread got my wheels turning. I'm no lawyer, so the legal end of this would have to be reviewed (and I think I just may have that done after thinking this through a little more) BUT... It was brought up that after a certain span of time, grandmothers, mothers, etc like to be able to pass...

  • What would you do, would you call them again? (WARNING: long)

I did a wedding back in July. The bride booked me for $500 for the day. I'm just starting out and needed something for my portfolio and she had nothing wedding related to look at to base her opinion, hence only $500. The contract included coverage until she was tired of me and a proof book with 250...

  • Re: Copyrights at sporting venues

In my opinion, she owns the copyright. If it was a class where she received credit some might try to claim "work for hire", but to me this is the same as it if I took pictures (at no charge) for a local non profit group and let them use them for free in a publication. Any other use would be...

  • Copyright Article

Here is a really good resource for copyright research. Most, but not all, of the posts on copyright are conjecture. This should clear the way for some of us. I had the idea of several of us coming together and retaining an attorney to help us with our forms. There is probably already some consortium...
