Just looking into getting a new lens and hear a lot people talking about the 50 mm lenses....just wondered what the difference was in the 50 mm 1.4 and the 1.8......I know there's also the 1.2 in the L series but didn't know if it was really worth all the extra money. Thanks!!!!

Hello I am new to this forum and I am sure I am much more of an amateur than the many talented professionals here. I prefer to shoot portraits and people scenes of travel photography. My Canon XTI Rebel Kit lens, the 18-55, broke (actually I have a theory that the security of a recent foreign country...

I shoot huge amount of pictures with 17-40L on 30D, and it is basicaly my walkaround lens in general. It is f/4, but it's WA, therefore intended for shooting at smaller apertures, so no problem here, plus it's superior in build and picture quality, also can be used not only on crop sensor cameras...

I have a Nikon D80 as well as a Nikon D50. Since I purchased the D80 the D50 has pretty much been a dust collector. I have the lens that came with the D50 and very rarely use it....the lens that I use a lot is a PROMASTER AF 28-200mm Zoom Lens F/3-5.6. I purchased this lens along with a Nikon N60 approx...

I rented a 70-200 2.8L IS USM not long ago and while I was impressed, sometimes I was wanting a little more power. I see that Canon also has the 100-400 4.5-5.6L IS USM. I looked at it today at the local camera store and the one thing that was a little strange is that it has a push/pull type of zoom...

I'll be doing my first wedding soon and was wondering if the sigma 50-150 is good to use during the ceremony? I was planning to use my sigma 24-70 but its noisy & not as quick or sharp as the 50-150. Is this wide enough, or should I stick with the wider lens? (I plan to use my canon 85 1/8 for...

Here are some of the group photos. They have been down sized and cropped but nothing else. (With the exception of the one that says final edit) On my monitor they look dark, but when I print them they look ok. I have to re-adjust my monitor. http://good-times.webshots.com/album/558469290RuQExc This is...

I like to shoot close-ups mainly but I would like to be able to do full body or even small groups. So for the close ups its best to use up to an 85mm and about f/1.8 or f/2.8 and for the groups (large groups mostly outside) use 85mm and up with 5.6 or higher? I have some group shots that I took of my...
